Q: Shaun, Fab Factory Studios isn’t your typical recording studio. What makes it stand out?
Shaun Fabos: The biggest thing that sets us apart is the vibe. You can buy any piece of equipment, and sure, gear helps, but it’s not what makes an artist truly creative. We’ve designed a space that doesn’t just provide top-tier recording facilities, but actually inspires. There’s a reason why you won’t find a single black couch here—every studio in the world has one, and I didn’t want anyone walking in and feeling like they were in just another studio. We want people to walk in and say, “This place feels different.”
Everything here is designed to stimulate creativity. The art, the lighting, the overall aesthetic—it’s all intentional. It’s about making artists feel comfortable, inspired, and ready to create.
Music is emotional — and emotion is the intangible thread connecting place and creativity that makes each studio unique. – Shaun Fabos, Rolling Stone
Q: So, who is the ideal artist for Fab Factory Studios?
Shaun Fabos: Ideally, we’re working with artists who are serious about their craft and respect the space. It’s not just about big names—it’s about people who understand and appreciate what we’ve built here. The best sessions happen when there’s no haggling over fees, no negotiating—just pure creative energy.
A lot of times, though, it’s the managers and A&Rs at labels who hear about us first. They’re the ones scouting spaces, but every now and then, an artist will hear about us through word of mouth, and that’s always cool too.
Q: You’ve mentioned how important the ‘vibe’ is. How do you create that atmosphere?
Shaun Fabos: It’s all about the details. When an artist comes here, they should feel something different—something that makes them want to stay. That’s why we’re constantly refining the experience.
We’re not just a recording studio. We’re an artistic compound. We’ve got a gym, a dance rehearsal space, a full stage with a PA system, a dedicated Atmos mixing room, and so many other spaces that allow artists to do everything in one place. You don’t have to leave to go practice your dance routine or work on your live set—you just walk into another building.
And the emotional reaction we get from people is exactly what we’re going for. People walk in and say, “This is one of the most incredible studios I’ve ever been in.” We hear that all the time. We’ve put so much thought into making sure the space is inspiring at every turn. Even something as small as a hidden piece of art on the drum wall—it’s meant to be discovered over time. It’s subtle, but it sparks something in the creative process.
Q: What’s your philosophy on what makes a studio truly great?
Shaun Fabos: A great studio isn’t just about the gear—it’s about how it makes you feel. Artists need to feel safe. They need to feel like they can create without distractions. Security is a big deal for us. We’re behind gates, we have badge access, and no one can just wander in and interrupt a session.
Beyond that, it’s about providing the right environment. It’s about making sure that an artist has everything they need—whether that’s a certain mic, a grand piano, or even just a warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie (which we actually make in-house, by the way). It’s all part of the experience.
Q: What’s one thing about Fab Factory Studios that people wouldn’t expect?
Shaun Fabos: Probably the level of detail we’ve put into the space. It’s not just about music; it’s about creating an experience. We have community lounges, not just private spaces, because we want artists to connect. The goal is to make this place feel like home—a place they don’t want to leave.
Also, a lot of people don’t expect that we bake our own cookies. No Nestlé here—we have a full setup with a mixer, oven, and a custom recipe just for us. It’s one of those small things that make a big difference.
Q: If you could sum up Fab Factory Studios in one sentence, what would it be?
Shaun Fabos: Fab Factory Studios isn’t just a studio—it’s a creative sanctuary where artists can be fully immersed in their craft without limitations.
Q: Any final words for artists looking for their next recording space?
Shaun Fabos: Find a place that doesn’t just have the right equipment, but the right energy. A place that makes you feel something the second you walk through the door. If you’re looking for a space that will inspire you to create your best work, come check us out. Just be warned—you might not want to leave.
